Architect's visit

Architect visit: Pablo CastaƱos and Darwin Olivera, the two young architect students who have been helping with the construction plans of the project from the beginning, were visiting Renacer in March. They checked the improvements of the multipurpose room, gave some advice for the finishing of the building, and took some measures of the area where the new cabins will be in the future. They are planning to have a final architecture plan at the end of April. This will allow starting the preparing of the foundations for the first cabin during the next months, and be ready for the two VIM teams coming in September 2009.

Pen friends

Saint Paul’s UMC from Tallahassee, FL., has been connected with the Renacer Camp Center Project from its early beginning. This connection was created, thanks to the Covenant Relationship of this church with missionary Miguel Arenas. Saint Paul’s made the first donation for the Sunday school, “Cup of milk program” at the camp during 2004 and 2005. Nowadays, we restarted our connection by the “Make a difference project” that this church is developing among its members this 2009. This program has allowed the kids from Renacer Camp Center to start a pen friend connection with the Saint Paul’s kids. Our kids will write their first letters to the new American friends - letters that will be translated by Miguel Arenas and sent by snail mail to Saint Paul. We hope to continue with this GREAT IDEA of fellowship, no matter the language, social condition or geographic area we are.

Stove for the Camp

April, 2009.- A new brand Fagor stove (Spanish brand) was bought for the camp center project. We would like to give thanks to the Trimmer family from Oakdale Emory UMC, Olney, MD, for their support to this project. Delicious pizzas, cakes and bread were baked at the oven, and the six fire units helped to cook more than one dish at the time. Campers really enjoyed the results of the new stove. Thank you!
