Youth National “Holy Week Camp”

Under the Bible Scripture of Nehemiah 2:18 “Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work” ( KJV) 36 young people from different Methodist churches around the country, gathered from Saturday 4th to Monday 6th, at the first Youth National Camp at the Renacer Methodist Camp Center after more than ten years.

The camp was led by a staff named by the Methodist Church. It was directed by Ms. Gladys Cuña (the IMU Vice president) and Ms. Miraille Planchon, and a group of three more leaders
Pastor Miguel was the work coordinator of the youth camp. The program included devotion time, Bible studies, recreation, and different types of work activities at the camp.

Mr. Lothar Driedger, a carpenter and member of the Central UMC of Montevideo, led the carpentry work. This included construction of cabinets for the kitchen, repairing of old table boards and some other related work. Two young campers, Eloisa Bremmermann and Rafael Noblia, who are studying physical Education, coordinated the group for those who helped cleaning and measuring the area for the future soccer and volley fields.

Nestor Olivera, a young pastor, just arrived from the Theological Seminary of ISEDET, Buenos Aires Argentina, led the Bible Studies based on Nehemiah, and the young men guided the singing and games.
Maria Julia, Member of the Aguada UMC of Montevideo, was our cook. Her delicious meals were an important part of the camp too. Campers are always starving, especially after working hard.
